What is telehealth?

Telehealth is a modern and convenient way for you to visit with your health care provider without having to leave your home. Using your familiar computer, tablet, or smartphone, you can connect with your provider at Family Urgent Care and receive a comprehensive evaluation and treatment.

Telehealth visits help you avoid some of the complications and expenses of in-person visits. You can avoid the extra travel, missed time at work, and childcare expenses. However, if your provider determines that your condition needs in-person care, they might suggest visiting Family Urgent Care in person instead.

Family Urgent Care’s telehealth system is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), so you can be sure your information is safe, secure, and confidential.

When should I use telehealth?

There are many reasons to consider booking a telehealth visit instead of visiting for urgent care or booking a primary care sick visit to either Family Urgent Care location. With telehealth visits, the team can evaluate, diagnose, and treat the following mild to moderate conditions, among others:

  • Acne
  • Allergies and asthma
  • Bacterial vaginosis
  • Bronchitis
  • Insect bites or stings
  • Cough, cold, and flu
  • Diarrhea
  • Ear infections
  • Fever
  • Food poisoning
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Rashes
  • Pink eye

If you need new prescriptions for your condition or you need to adjust a current prescription, your provider can do it during your telehealth visit. You can also review lab or imaging results and discuss treatment options.

How does telehealth work?

Booking and attending a telehealth visit at Family Urgent Care is simple and user-friendly. Simply schedule an appointment at an available time that’s convenient for you using the telehealth portal. Soon, you receive a calendar invite for your appointment.

When you follow the link, you can complete registration for your appointment. You record your symptoms, medications, health history, and other relevant information to save time during your appointment.

At the time of your appointment, you connect with your provider with two-way, high-definition video and clear audio. It may seem like your physician is in the room with you!

During the appointment, your provider asks questions about your symptoms and might ask you to help with simple tests like checking your heart rate or viewing lesions and other symptoms on your skin. You can easily upload photos relevant to your symptoms for your physician to view. Finally, your provider sends any prescriptions electronically to your pharmacy of choice if needed.
