Your health and wellness partner for extensive care.

What, Why and How

The symptoms of food poisoning include nausea, heart burning, upset stomach, and diarrhea. Food poisoning, also known as food-borne illness, is extremely uncomfortable. It happens when you ingest food that contains bacteria, viruses, or parasites. It disturbs the entire mechanism of digestion, and the sufferer has to face a lot of problems other than just diarrhea. The bacteria responsible for food poisoning include Salmonella and E. coli.

Salmonella

Salmonella primarily affects food items like eggs, milk, poultry, or beef. It usually happens when there is a mishandling of these particular food items. Either the handler’s hands are contaminated, or he has not washed them properly. In both cases, the food becomes contaminated, and when eaten, results in food poisoning along with diarrhea, fever, and intense abdominal cramps. The body can even become severely dehydrated if food poisoning happens due to Salmonella.

E. coli:

It is commonly found in meat, raw milk, dairy, and raw produce such as alfalfa sprouts and lettuce. The bacteria still remain present due to undercooked food and cause food poisoning. The common symptoms include urinary tract infections known as UTI. But some serious complications like kidney failure and anemia can also happen.

The only good thing is that all the symptoms of food poisoning appear in a few hours, so the patient can be easily treated if the symptoms are taken seriously!
